Most of us wouldn’t mind earning a few extra bucks every now and then. Despite what you may think, there are many ways to do so…even if you are a stay at home mom caring for small children. Here are just three things I have tried to earn extra cash while still being able to care for my family.
Not all mystery shopping opportunities out there are scams. There are several legitimate companies to work for. Three of the top mystery shopping companies are:
Bestmark – A mystery shopping company that has been around for over 30 years in Minnesota.
Market Force Information– Founded in 2005, according to their website, Market Force manages a base of 400,000 independent contractors delivering over 100,000 shops every month.
Intellishop– This company is based out of Ohio and has a pool of more than 1 million mystery shoppers.
As parents, we are out and about with our children anyway whether its taking the car in for maintenance, grocery shopping, or going out to eat. We might as well get paid in the process right? Some shops don’t even require you to go anywhere. If you can make a few short phone calls during nap time, you can easily earn a few extra dollars.
Are you decluttering and have things around the house that need to find a new home? Yard sales can be fun, but also a ton of work. I’ve been able to make a few bucks here and there from selling items from around the house online. My best month rolled in an extra $300. Not bad for posting a few pics and communicating via text or FB messenger a few times. I’m sure that if I had been able to devote more time to it, I could have made even more.
Worried about inventory? Resell items you’ve purchased at yard sales or things that neighbors may have put out on the road that are up for grabs. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve stopped to pick something up that was in great shape or only needed a few minor fixes before it was ready to be reused. We’ve even placed things out by the road ourselves knowing it would only be a matter of time before someone came and snatched it up.
Ebay, Amazon, and Facebook Marketplace are great places to start posting once you have something ready to be sold. Lately, I’ve been utilizing the Marketplace in my Facebook app. I also love how FB will not only post your items in the marketplace, but also give you the option of posting to other selling groups you are a part of.
Cash out Using Rebate Apps
I LOVE using rebate apps and websites. They are becoming increasingly popular, and for good reason. Did I mention how much I LOVE using them, ’cause I do…I really do.
Back in the day you used to have to either buy newspapers or search online, and then print and cut out one coupon after another. Eventually it got to the point where you could digitally upload coupons to your account at various stores. Now, all you have to do is open an app, make your purchases, and scan your receipt. It’s soooo easy. With the Walmart Savings Catcher app, if a better price is found at a nearby competitor, the difference is credited to your account where you may then request a gift card, or use your smartphone to receive the rebate in the store. Here is a recent screenshot I took from my Savings Cather account. As of right now, I have about $45.00 to redeem, just from scanning my receipts! My goal will be to get to $50. I may even let it accumulate even more before I cash out. It’ll be the easiest $50 I’ve ever made. *UPDATE: Since writing this post, I have earned over $52 via the savings catcher app.
There are other AWESOME apps that I have started using such as Ibotta, Ebates, and Checkout 51. It is surprising as to how much I am accumulating in such a short period of time. Within two weeks of using Ibotta, I have currently earned over $26 in rebates! *UPDATE: Since writing this post, I have earned almost $35 using Ibotta.
I almost always get cash back on every shopping trip, plus they dish out extra $$$ if you refer a friend. When you’re a parent and shopping for your family throughout the month, it can all add up. So why not earn cash back on everything from groceries, to motor oil, clothing and more! It’s FREE MONEY! Who doesn’t like free money?
I’ll go into more detail about the use of these apps in another post. In the meantime, why not go ahead and give some of them a try? Click on the links in this post to get a $10 welcome bonus after redeeming your first eligible rebate on Ibotta. Ebates will also give you a $10 welcome bonus. I earned my bonus on Ibotta just by redeeming a rebate on a box of cereal. Simple as that!
